State Availability

Most of the country can play. A small group of states cannot, and the operator terms are always the final word.

There is no single national rulebook

Sweepstakes availability is the product of state promotions law, state gambling law and each operator willingness to accept risk. That last factor explains most of the confusion in this market: two operators reading the same statute can reach different conclusions, and one will accept players in a state while the other refuses. We therefore do not publish legal verdicts by state. We publish what each operator accepted while we were testing and we point you at the terms that govern your account.

The pattern across eighteen operators

  • Open nearly everywhere. The large majority of states were accepted by every operator we funded, with a minimum age of eighteen or twenty-one depending on the site and the state.
  • Blocked by everyone. A small group was excluded across the board. Washington and Idaho were the most consistent, with Michigan and Nevada excluded by most operators.
  • Split. Several states were accepted by some operators and refused by others, which signals differing legal advice rather than a settled position. This is the group that changes most often.
  • Changed during testing. More than one operator withdrew from a state inside our testing window. A site that accepted you last year may not accept you now.

A two minute check that is worth doing

Open the operator terms and search for excluded, prohibited or ineligible. The list is there and it is the version that binds your account, not any summary elsewhere, including this page. Then check the minimum age for your state. Finally, remember that eligibility depends on where you physically are rather than where you live, so travel can change your status mid-trip.

We are not lawyers. Nothing here is legal advice. If it matters to you, read the operator terms and speak to someone qualified in your state.

Verification, location and VPNs

Every operator on the scorecards verified identity before redemption and checked location both at signup and at withdrawal. Masking your location is a term breach at all eighteen, and the usual outcome is a frozen balance. On a free account there is nothing to gain from it.

Grades come from measured settlement times, not from marketing pages.
